Minimum tank size 5 gallon

Sexing The female has a black spot on her dorsal fin. The male has brighter colours and definitely no spot. (female with spot on rear of dorsal pictured above)
Breeding Spawns like a Cichlid. The male will dig a depression in the sand where he will guard the eggs for their 7 day incubation. The fry are usually safe with their parents.
Comments The Flag Fish can be kept much like the common livebearers, Platies, Swordtails and Mollies. It doesn't mind higher pH or even a little salt in the water. They make excellent fish for algae clean up.
